Drilling reagent OSB-5
TU U 24.6-24709453-007:2008
OSB-5 in terms of physical and chemical characteristics is an analogue of the Soltex reagent and is used in water-based drilling fluids to stabilize clay shales. The reagent seals cracks in mudstones and shales, preventing unstable rocks from contacting the drilling fluid. In addition, OSB-5 effectively suppresses the swelling of clay rocks and the dispersion of clay sludge in solution.
The recommended concentration of OSB-5 in drilling fluid is from 1.5% to 4%. The consumption and maintenance of the required concentration of OSB-5 in the drilling fluid depends on the diameter of the well, drilling speed and mining and geological conditions.
OSB-5 is highly soluble in water, easy to use and does not require the use of oil or diesel fuel or special equipment.
In addition to its main functions, the reagent helps to improve the quality of the filter cake, reduce the coefficient of friction, and increase the emulsifying ability of the solution.
